Back to British Soil!

2021

After a busy start to this year, I decided it was time to take a few weeks off (as I’m sure you saw – my final round scorecard in Austria acts as the evidence of this!)

But after an enjoyable break, I am really looking forward to getting back to playing tournament golf again this week.

One silver lining of this pandemic for me has definitely been the revival of so many great European Tour events being hosted again in the UK! And this week at the Belfry is no exception….

This venue will already be familiar to most of you given its rich history hosting Ryder Cups and European Tour events over the last 40 years!

Situated just outside of Birmingham, it is the same Brabazon Course that we will be playing on this week too.

It’s a parkland layout here with relatively flat and narrow tree-lined fairways as well as water in play on nearly half the holes. The rough is definitely worth avoiding too which means that precision and accuracy off the tee and solid ball striking/iron approach shots will be of crucial importance. I will definitely be putting emphasis on being as precise as possible and staying patient out there!

It’s a huge shame that spectators still aren’t allowed at tournaments here since the British Masters has previously had such a great atmosphere…but nonetheless, the drivable par 4 10th hole and challenging 18th could provide quite a few entertaining moments for viewers throughout this week!

Unfortunately we have quite a few rain showers expected over the duration of the week although the temperatures are gratefully much warmer than back in Austria! Very little wind projected which is also a bonus too…

Off at 8.20am tomorrow – a Wednesday start for a change! Looking forward to a great week here at the Belfry to get my next run of events well underway!
